ComfyUI Tools v1.0.0

AI & ML comfyui-tools 3 actions MCP

Utilities for ComfyUI workflow JSON files: strip embedded base64 image blobs to shrink them, inspect node counts and types, and extract the text prompts buried inside a workflow or prompt export.

The omniscient:// link needs a protocol handler on your machine, which is not built yet. Until then it does nothing — use the commands below.

Strip embedded images

strip_images

Remove embedded base64 image blobs from a ComfyUI workflow/prompt JSON at any depth, replacing each with a short placeholder so the file shrinks. Writes a new file; the source is never touched.

Inputs

NameTypeRequired / defaultValues and notes
json_file path required
min_base64_len int optional, default 64
out path optional, default ""

Outputs

NameTypeNotes
file path
removed int
bytes_saved int

Inspect workflow

inspect

Summarize a ComfyUI workflow or API-prompt JSON: detected format, node count, and a breakdown of node types. Falls back to a generic structure summary for JSON that isn't a recognized ComfyUI export.

Inputs

NameTypeRequired / defaultValues and notes
json_file path required

Outputs

NameTypeNotes
summary json

Extract prompts

extract_prompts

Find the text prompts embedded in a ComfyUI workflow or API-prompt JSON - CLIPTextEncode-style node fields and similar text widgets - skipping filenames, samplers and other non-prompt strings.

Inputs

NameTypeRequired / defaultValues and notes
json_file path required
unique bool optional, default true

Outputs

NameTypeNotes
prompts json
count int
text text

Use it

Strip embedded images

Command line

shell
python app.py --action strip_images --params '{"json_file": "D:/path/to/json_file"}'

Run from the app’s own folder. Single quotes work in bash and PowerShell; in cmd.exe use double quotes and escape the inner ones.

MCP tool

mcp
run_action("comfyui-tools", "strip_images", {"json_file": "D:/path/to/json_file"})

Workflow node

  },
  "inputs": {}
}

Inspect workflow

Command line

shell
python app.py --action inspect --params '{"json_file": "D:/path/to/json_file"}'

Run from the app’s own folder. Single quotes work in bash and PowerShell; in cmd.exe use double quotes and escape the inner ones.

Extract prompts
