File Hash Search v1.0.0

Files & backup file-hash-search 3 actions MCP

Find files by exact content hash across a folder tree: hash a single file, find groups of byte-identical duplicate files of any type, or search a tree for every file matching a known hash.

The omniscient:// link needs a protocol handler on your machine, which is not built yet. Until then it does nothing — use the commands below.

Actions

Hash a file

hash_file

Compute the content hash of a single file.

Inputs

NameTypeRequired / defaultValues and notes
file path required
algorithm enum optional, default sha256 md5sha1sha256

Outputs

NameTypeNotes
hash string
algorithm string
size int

Find duplicate files

find_duplicates

Find groups of byte-identical files under a folder (any file type; images are skipped by default). Fast: only files that already share a size are ever hashed.

Inputs

NameTypeRequired / defaultValues and notes
folder path required
recursive bool optional, default true
algorithm enum optional, default sha256 md5sha1sha256
include_images bool optional, default false
min_size int optional, default 1

Outputs

NameTypeNotes
groups json
group_count int
duplicate_count int
wasted_bytes int

Find files by hash

find_by_hash

Search a folder tree for every file whose content matches a given hash. The algorithm is auto-detected from the hash's length when not specified.

Inputs

NameTypeRequired / defaultValues and notes
folder path required
hash string required
recursive bool optional, default true
algorithm enum optional, default auto automd5sha1sha256

Outputs

NameTypeNotes
matches path[]
count int

Use it

Hash a file

Command line

shell
python app.py --action hash_file --params '{"file": "D:/path/to/file"}'

Run from the app’s own folder. Single quotes work in bash and PowerShell; in cmd.exe use double quotes and escape the inner ones.

MCP tool

mcp
run_action("file-hash-search", "hash_file", {"file": "D:/path/to/file"})

Workflow node

    "file": "D:/path/to/file"
  },
  "inputs": {}
}

Find duplicate files

Command line

shell
python app.py --action find_duplicates --params '{"folder": "D:/path/to/folder"}'

Run from the app’s own folder. Single quotes work in bash and PowerShell; in cmd.exe use double quotes and escape the inner ones.

Find files by hash

Command line

shell
python app.py --action find_by_hash --params '{"folder": "D:/path/to/folder", "hash": "<hash>"}'

Run from the app’s own folder. Single quotes work in bash and PowerShell; in cmd.exe use double quotes and escape the inner ones.
